Conversation With an Ex-Gay

Jeremy Simmons
11:18
It just states that within the bible, homosexuality is sin, but in my eyes that gives no one the right to judge another person because of it.

Clifford Michael
11:19
everything's a sin in the bible

Jeremy Simmons
11:19
not nessecarily.
11:19
just certain things.
11:19
haha

Clifford Michael
11:19
like eating shrimp

Jeremy Simmons
11:20
Not anymore.

Clifford Michael
11:20
why not?

Jeremy Simmons
11:20
That was the old covenant.
11:20
Jesus changed all that when he came to earth.
11:20
His life and death marks a new covenant with god.

Clifford Michael
11:20
Jesus never mentioned homosexuality
11:20
so why is it still in the new covenant?

Jeremy Simmons
11:20
No, but his apostle did.
11:21
*apostles

Clifford Michael
11:21
his apostles are not the ones in charge.
11:21
ugh
11:21
Jesus gave a simple message

Jeremy Simmons
11:21
But, they recieved devine revelation from god.

Clifford Michael
11:21
love everyone as you would have them love you
11:21
it's simple

Jeremy Simmons
11:21
That is not his only message.

Clifford Michael
11:22
well whatever his other messages are, none of them involved any mention of hating homosexuals

Jeremy Simmons
11:22
Jesus was the sacrifice for the torment that we should have experience ourselves. Through God's grace, he put everyone who ever lived and will live's punishment on Him.
11:23
Jesus said to listen to his apostles and that they would continue to reveal truths to the fledgling church.

Clifford Michael
11:23
ugh
11:23
ANYWAY
11:23
I don't give a shit

Jeremy Simmons
11:23
haha sorry

Clifford Michael
11:23
I am who I am, and no one can make me ashamed of that

Jeremy Simmons
11:23
No, you should never be ashamed of it.

Clifford Michael
11:23
I am a spiritual, confirmed, Catholic

Jeremy Simmons
11:23
Good, I am glad.

Clifford Michael
11:24
and my church teaches that God loves you
11:24
all the time

Jeremy Simmons
11:24
Of course.

Clifford Michael
11:24
despite what others tend to believe

Jeremy Simmons
11:24
=]
11:24
That's why God sent his only Son so that we may have eternal life.
11:24
That is love!
11:24
=]

Clifford Michael
11:25
and my pastor and associate pastor voted no on Prop 8

Jeremy Simmons
11:25
But, because God is perfect, and we are not, he can not suffer to let us go without punishment for our crimes.
11:25
Ya, I would have voted no on prop 8.

Clifford Michael
11:25
and have since invited me to do some sort of seminar with the youth

Jeremy Simmons
11:25
I believe everyone has a right to be with who they want to be with.

Clifford Michael
11:25
so wait
11:25
are you straight now?

Jeremy Simmons
11:26
Ya, I am because I was shown that it is wrong in His eyes, and he provided me a way out.

Clifford Michael
11:26
.......
11:26
you're an ex-gay?

Jeremy Simmons
11:26
I did this on my own, mind you.
11:26
I guess, if you put it that way, ya.

Clifford Michael
11:27
......

Jeremy Simmons
11:27
But really it's just that he has changed something within me, that tells me that it is not where I should be.

Clifford Michael
11:27
so you become un-gay because God thinks the way you are is wrong?

Jeremy Simmons
11:29
No it's not the way I am or was. It is just a particular temptation that I struggled with. Satan knows exactly how to tempt us and with what, and once I realized that that's all it was, I knew how to become right with Jesus.

Clifford Michael
11:29
I'm sorry
11:29
but
11:30
I'm FINE with Jesus. As far as my enjoying the company of men both emotionally and physically, Satan's got nothing to do with it

Jeremy Simmons
11:31
That's what you think, but the bible tells us that it is wrong, and is not part of God's plan. There's no other way I can put it. I know that it is hard to accept, trust me I didn't understand at first. But once you give it to Him and truly ask for guidance, he will show you something much more beautiful.
11:32
I am so much more happier now then I ever thought I was.

Clifford Michael
11:32
perhaps you are
11:32
but I would be miserable if I had to hide who I am
11:32
There's no other way I'm supposed to be
11:33
There's no other way I CAN be
11:33
I am a strongly spiritual Catholic
11:33
I have gone to church every Sunday for my entire life
11:34
I have led Children's ministries and sing in the choir every week
11:34
most importantly

Jeremy Simmons
11:34
It's not who you are. You have just been led to believe that. We all suffer from certain temptations, and people with gay feelings are no different. It may feel like it is who you ARE, but it is not. Just going to church does not let you experience the Holy Spirit. Have you spoken in tounges?

Clifford Michael
11:34
I am a good son to my parents, a good grandson to my grandparents, a good cousin, a good uncle, a good friend, a good nephew
11:35
the people I love, they accept me as I am. they don't tell me it's wrong or that it's a phase
11:35
they all know it's not
11:35
and it is who I AM
11:35
I didn't wake up one morning and think "Hm, I'm interested in boys"
11:36
it has been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember

Jeremy Simmons
11:36
Well, I'm happy that you do everything else right. Have you spoken in tongues before?

Clifford Michael
11:36
no
11:36
everything else right?
11:36
everything ELSE right?

Jeremy Simmons
11:36
Have you experienced the holy spirit before?

Clifford Michael
11:37
yeah
11:37
when my grandma had cancer
11:37
I felt like something/someone was always beside me
11:37
guiding me, consoling me

Jeremy Simmons
11:38
I mean, have you experienced His love in a passionate way? To the point where you fall to your knees in awe, crying, and speaking in tongues?

Clifford Michael
11:38
wtf
11:39
are you saying that the guidance the holy spirit provides isn't passionate?
11:39
any love the holy spirit provides on any level cannot be compared to others

Jeremy Simmons
11:39
The sign that His followers have truly been baptised in the Holy Spirit is that they will speak in tongues.
11:39
It is in the bible.

Clifford Michael
11:40
the bible, IMHO, is the most awful book ever written, only because, those that read it pick and choose to suit what they see fit
11:40
not only that, but those people then push their ideals onto other people

Jeremy Simmons
11:40
All the apostles expereienced this great gift, and it wasn't until I truly repented for my sin of homosexuality that I felt His power.

Clifford Michael
11:40
I'm going to end this conversation, for now,
11:40
I get the feeling that

Jeremy Simmons
11:41
I'm just saying, a true christian, would follow the holy bible to it's word and would not scoff, when truth is before their eyes.

Clifford Michael
11:41
on this side, I feel for you and feel that someone has led you astray

Jeremy Simmons
11:41
I'm just trying to save you.

Clifford Michael
11:41
but you feel the same for me on your side

Jeremy Simmons
11:41
I came to this realization on my own.

Clifford Michael
11:42
a christian doesn't need to follow a book to be a true christian.

Jeremy Simmons
11:43
It is our guide, and our sword. It is how we can know what God asks of us in this life.
11:43
It is not just any book, either. It is God's holy word.

Clifford Michael
11:43
no, it's what the author thinks God asks of us

Jeremy Simmons
11:44
It was written through divine revelation, all you need to do is sincerely pray for the knowledge of the truth and it will be revealed to you.
11:45
Trust in Him, and we show you the way. I know, that it may not seem right, now, but please, all I ask is that you sincerely pray, and open your eyes and your heart to Him. He will answer. He always does.
11:45
*He

Clifford Michael
11:45
he has answered
11:46
and I don't need someone else to interpret his love for me.

Jeremy Simmons
11:47
No, you are listening to your own brain and your own desires. His knowledge is not of the flesh, you will know his Truth, because it will be as a blazing sword. Sharp, and painful, because it hurts our pride, but in the end it brings true happiness and everlasting life.
11:50
I'm sorry if I sound harsh, or mean. It just breaks my heart to see people struggle and not realize it. I have overcome this and I know in my heart, that other people can too.
11:52
I understand that it is your choice whether or not you listen to me, and in no way do I want you to feel ashamed. We all stumble along the path, even the most perfect of us. It is what makes us human. Just understand that any punishment you have price you may have had to pay, Jesus paid it. You owe Him your life, and your love.
11:52
Goodnight.

Clifford Michael
11:52
good night
